The Hannover chapter of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) is hosting a colloquium at the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry (PCI) at Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH) on Thursday, 14 December 2024. PhoenixD member Prof. Dr. Sebastian Polarz from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at LUH will give a lecture on "Smart Soap - Surfactant Swiss Knifes" at 5.15 pm.

In his lecture, Sebastian Polarz will give an overview of next-generation surfactants, i.e. soaps with (photo)catalytic and stimulating reactive properties. In addition to the chemical synthesis of complex surfactants, the physical characterisation of their amphiphilic, biochemical and other functional properties will be presented, according to an announcement. The lecture will conclude with an outlook on future challenges in this field, such as the generation of dissipative self-organisation and breakthroughs in micellar catalysis.

The colloquium will begin at 17:15 in the Dr. Oetker lecture hall of the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry (Room 007, Building 2504) at Callinstraße 3a in Hanover. A coffee break in the library of the Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry will precede the lecture.
