Our group is working in the field of biophotonics and biomedical optics. Therefore, we are applying optical technologies in the life sciences and medicine for diagnostics and therapy. Most of our work focused on the tissue or cellular level, developing optical modalities for sensing, imaging or manipulating biological compounds or processes. More specifically, we are developing new optically active biomaterials for sensing of metabolites like glucose or physiological parameters like pH and O2, to be integrated in wearable sensors or on microfluidic chips in connection with integrated optics.
