Abstract

Factory planning tries anticipating changes that might occur in the future to consider structural adjustments through the correct factory dimensioning. Often incremental adjustments over the designated area are not sufficient, making investments necessary. In an early factory planning phase, such investments have to be planned and initiated under increasing uncertainty. This article addresses the related challenges and shows the need for improved decision support in case of factory dimensioning.
