Abstract

Ultrafast pulsed laser sources in the 2µm wavelength range are attractive for material processing, as well as being an efficient pump source for optical parametric oscillators in the MIR wavelength region [1]. To reach the necessary pulse energies in the µJ-mJ range, a popular way is to combine fiber based sources that generate the required ultrashort pulses, with subsequent Holmium crystal amplifiers to boost the pulse energy [2]. Here, we report on a PM fiber setup with a tunable central wavelength based on a Tm-doped oscillator and amplifier and a soliton self-frequency shift via intrapulse Raman scattering.
