Writing photonic components in polymers using femtosecond pulses

Abstract

Polymer waveguides are designed and fabricated through femtosecond laser writing. We optimize the structure to achieve single-mode waveguides with minimum propagation losses of 0.6 dB cm−1. We also demonstrated challenging Y-splitters through this novel technique.
