The Macromolecular Chemistry Group at the Institute for Technical Chemistry at TU Braunschweig offers a PhD position (male/female/divers). Experience in polymer synthesis and characterization as well as first practical experience in optical applications are highly welcome.

The academic community at Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig, founded in 1745, comprises 20,000 students as well as 3,600 staff members and offers an outstanding teaching and research environment with excellent equipment.

A PhD position is immediately available in the Macromolecular Chemistry Group led by Prof. Henning Menzel. The project involves synthesis and characterization of novel polymeric materials having applications in optoelectronic devices and is part of the cluster of excellence „PhoenixD - Photonics, Optics, Engineering-Innovation across Disciplines“, which is a broadly-based initiative, which looks into the future of precision optics.

The successful candidate will perform the design and synthesis new electro-refractive polymers in the framework of this cluster of excellence. Besides the synthesis and characterization of the polymeric materials, their application in optical elements shall be tested in collaboration with physicists and engineers in the cluster.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in polymer/materials science, chemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in polymer synthesis and characterization is required. Experience in optical applications of would be an advantage.

We offer a PhD position. Salary is depending on task assignment and fulfillment of personal requirements according to German salary group TV-L E13 50% (salary agreement for public service employees).
