Optical technologies can be an essential building block for a more sustainable and efficient agriculture. PhoenixD member Prof. Dr. Dag Heinemann explains this in an article on the website www.wissenschaftsjahr.de.

The German government''s bioeconomy strategy aims to introduce concrete measures to achieve the European sustainability goals. These goals shall be reached by converting the German economic system to sustainable processes based on biological cycles. The basis of these cycles are primarily plants, which serve as renewable resources. For a successful implementation of these sustainable processes, new technologies must be introduced at all levels of plant science, from basic research to applied agronomy.
