Job description: The objective of this project is experimental XUV/X-ray imaging of viral structures employing detectors of the highest efficiency with sources of different coherence levels. This includes generation of radiation e.g. with a strong femtosecond laser, radiation transport, as well as signal processing and analysis.
The position: We are looking for a qualified personality on the postdoctoral level in the field of experimental X-ray optics. This includes e.g. the fields of sources of coherent and incoherent X-rays and state-of-the-art detectors. The willingness to cooperate scientifically with other research groups in physics, engineering is assumed. The position is located in the Quantum Optics Institute in the Ultrafast Laser Group of Uwe Morgner and Milutin Kovacev. It is limited to one year; a continuation after positive evaluation is possible. After successful scientific qualification, the opportunity for habilitation is given.
Your profile: PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering with a strong track record in laser science and/or X-ray physics as well as excellent scientific knowledge including analytical and experimental skills. Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organizations in Germany.
Applicants should provide a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae and a statement of research interests. The review of incoming applications will start immediately and will continue until a suitable candidate is identified. We suggest applying by July 2022 to ensure full consideration.
