The academic community at Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig, founded in 1745, comprises 20,000 students as well as 3,600 staff members and offers an outstanding teaching and research environment with excellent equipment.

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Macromolecular Chemistry Group led by Prof. Henning Menzel.

The successful candidate will perform synthesis and characterization of novel polymeric materials having applications in optoelectronic devices. The project is part of the cluster of excellence PhoenixD - Photonics, Optics, Engineering-Innovation across Disciplines, which is a broadly based initiative, which looks into the future of precision optics.

Its core concept is to merge optical systems, design and simulation tools, with new materials as well as all relevant productions technologies into one combined platform so as to create highly functional optical devices. The successful candidate will perform the design and synthesis new photo and electro-refractive materials in the framework of this cluster of excellence. Besides the synthesis and polymerchemical characterization of the materials, their application in optical elements shall be tested in collaboration with physicists and engineers in the cluster.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in polymer/materials science, chemistry, or a related discipline. Experience in polymer synthesis and characterization is required. The successful applicant is also expected to have experience in optical applications of polymers.

We offer a full-time appointment by the TU Braunschweig (100%, 2 years, post-doctoral position). Salary is depending on task assignment and fulfillment of personal requirements according to German salary group TV-L E13 (salary agreement for public service employees).

TU Braunschweig aims to increase the share of women in academic positions. Applications from female candidates are explicitly encouraged.
